Animator Friendly Rigging Walk Cycle

A couple of years ago I posted this walkcycle workflow demo on YouTube.. it shows me using the AFR rig to do a walk.

Thought it might be interesting to put it up again in case people haven’t seen it before.

Great video. I saw it a while back, though seeing it again is awesome.

Have you any plans on creating DVD’s on animating? You’re an awesome animator as well. Would love to see some sort tutorial on your workflow for animation.
Similar to that shot where you spoke about how you broke down the animation, at the end of the “Fast Animation Rigs”.

    Heya Raveen,

I don’t have any current plans on doing any material on animating, but I do have a couple of courses that are being used in AnimationMentor.com

I’m thinking about writing something on clarity in blocking.. would that be interesting for people?

    Hey Jason,
I really enjoyed your lectures at AM, very entertaining 🙂 I also just started to watch your AFR tutorials, I was lucky to still get them from the Autodesk subscription, hehe.
Clarity in blocking would be awesome, as I think it’s one of the most important and difficult concepts in animation. Would love to hear your approach and techniques.
    Cheers, Tommi

Seem “cool” with the techno music, but whats the point if you don’t show the walk cycle at the end ? Maybe it actyaly suck (Iam sure it don’t, because you wrote in Animation Insider :D…) But maybe ;p

Thanks for the note, fr002. 🙂

I don’t know why I never included the cycle at the end.. just didn’t think about it when making the video. 🙂

    Hello, Jason

I would be nice to see your lecture on animation. No need to do the whole animation sequences. Just full lecture from start to finish on obstacles, challenges in animation pipeline. The reason is because animation styles may varies from studio to studio.

I love your lecture, it is the best of all ever since the first two DVDs.

    Chulsa Heng 😛
